Characters

I've got the general bones of a novel forming. At the moment, I have two characters, a woman and a man. I suspect this will be a "searching for love" story or something along that theme.

Outline in Preparation for 11/1/09

I just downloaded and installed yWriter. In keeping with the spirit of NaNo, I will not start writing my novel until 1 November. However, I wanted to start a sketchy outline and draft out a few characters. I have the nugget of an idea and wanted to get it down before it left my head.

So I am trying yWriter. It gives me the tools I need to build the skeleton of an outline and helps with documenting research etc. So far so good!

Oh and I got Chris' book, read the entire thing up to the appointed stopping place and am now ready to wrestle words.

Links Galore

I decided to surf and find other resources to support my NaNo habit. Little did I know there is a lot out here...duh. So I've added a bunch of links in the sidebar. Some I've checked out, some are old, but most of them have something useful to the writing life geared with NaNo in mind. I'll add more as I wander. Safe surfing everyone!

The Planning Begins

Just the other day, I ordered Chris Baty's book "No Plot, No Problem," the text for attempting to write 50,000 words in thirty days. I have no clue what my novel will be about. Some do this "seat of the pants" and some plan every last bit in preparation to start writing on November 1, 2009. I'm not good at "seat of the pants;" so I think I'll start some sort of plan. When the book gets here.
